Review: ICHIKAMI Hair Mask

ICHIKAMI Hair Mask is one of the Japan 2009 @ Cosme Award products. I read some good reviews few months ago but didn't know where to buy it till I suddenly found it in one of the local Watsons stores. I was so excited and grabbed it without second thought, it never disappointed me.

I almost finished the whole bottle and it's time to write a review of it now.

VOLUME: 254G (9 OZ)

DESCRIPTION:

Hair damages are caused in daily life by dryness, friction, humidity, and UV-rays. It is especially vulnerable and tends to get dry when you go out. This hair treatment with pure oriental herbal extract instantly absorbs into damaged hair.

Contains black rice extract and soy bean/black bean extract to repair and protect hair. The specially formulated traditional and natural hair care ingredients with black grain and soy extract works into core of hair well. Leave hair silky and shiny. The black soy bean essence is extracted from the premium quality black soy bean from Tanba, Japan.

Ingredients: water (aqua), sodium laureth sulfate, sodium cocoamphoacetate, tea-cocoyl glutamate, lauramide mipa, glycol distearate, sodium peg-3 cocamide sulfate, dimethicone, peg-7 glyceryl cocoate, polyquaternium-10, ceteareth-60 myristyl glycol, disodium edta, polyquaternium-7, aloe barbadensis extract, dimethicone copolyol, sodium citrate, hydrolyzed collagen, citric acid, butylene glycol, sodium sulfite, sodium benzoate, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance(parfum)

From the ingredient list we can see that it contains SLES, a more gentle foaming agent than SLS. But you should avoid this product if you are easily irritated by SLS or SLES.

Use this product after shampoo.

1. Brush hair thoroughly and comb out all the tangles.
2. Apply the hair treatment to your palms.
3. Massage and coat your hair thoroughly.
4. Put on a shower cap, or just use some saran wrap to cover hair for 5 minutes or so for better result.
5. Rinse your hair thoroughly.

I have oily scalp and dry frizzy hair, I've been looking for a hair product which can calm down my frizzy hair, I'm glad I found one.

The texture is yellow thick cream. Although it's hair mask, I use it as hair conditioner right after shampoo. Just squeeze dry my hair, apply the hair mask and massage the hair end a bit (try to aviod scalp area), leave it for about 5 mins, then wash my body and brush my teeth while waiting, rinse thoroughly and towel dry my hair.

What I like about this product:
1, I like the fruity wild sakura aroma
2, I like how smooth and soft my hair is after washing
3, It moisturizes my hair ends well and calms down my frizzy hair but does not make my scalp oily or make my hair looks heavy.
4, It's cheap (SGD14.9, about USD11.5 in Watsons).
The result is comparable to my other "branded" hair products. With such afforable price, I'm going to try the shampoo and conditioner after I finish my current ones.
5, It's suitable for all hair type.

What I don't like about this product:
It's the fact that it contains SLES, I have told myself that I should keep myself away from any hair or skin products, which contains SLS, SLES, Paraben and fragrance.

Repurchase?
Yes, this hair mask works well for me, I will definitely repurchase it.

  3. I'm using Ichikami's shampoo + conditioner!! I didn't see this hair mask in Watsons, either they didn't bring it in or I'm unobservant hahaha xD

It depends on the range you want me to compare the Max Factor quads to.. the texture of Lunasol's shadows are not uniform, for example, the LE Nature Summer Beige quad feels rather gritty.

  4. I had never thought black rice is also used for hair treatment. It is widely known now that black rice is becoming the super food of the century with its antioxidants but this is the first time I have heard of black rice on hair treatment. Thanks for this good review as I now know another good use of black rice.

  7. Hi, BeautyOnTheWay! I see, that the ingredients list on the jar differs from the one you typed. There's no SLS in it and it has more other ingredients. So, I suppose, it's even better? )))
